PCM Plates are the thermal engine inside every SteadyPac Cube family solution, and they work just as well in your existing coolers. As the phase change material transitions from solid to liquid, it absorbs heat and holds the exact temperature your payload needs for the full duration of transit. Match the phase to your lane, and you’re not fighting the ambient environment, you’re working with thermodynamics.

Four phases cover the full pharmaceutical cold chain: −21°C frozen, +5°C refrigerated, +18°C CRT, and +23°C CRT. Color-coded for instant visual confirmation at pack-out. The +18°C and +23°C variants condition at room temperature, no refrigeration required.

How phase change works

The environment changes.The protection doesn’t.

A phase change material holds a specific, desired temperature, its fixed melt point, to keep the product protected. Which direction it protects depends on its state: solid PCM absorbs heat as it melts, holding the line against heat; liquid PCM releases heat as it re-freezes, holding the line against cold. As ambient temperature swings, the material shifts between states, buffering the product each time.

Step 01 · Condition

Fixed temperature.

A phase change material holds one specific, desired temperature, its melt point, built to keep the product protected.

Step 02 · Absorb

Solid or liquid.

Solid PCM absorbs heat as it melts, holding the line when the environment runs hot. Liquid PCM releases heat as it re-freezes, holding the line when it runs cold.

Step 03 · Repeat

Repeat and reuse.

The phase change repeats endlessly, solid to liquid to solid, again and again, with no expiration on the cycle. It performs the same at cycle one thousand as it did at cycle one.

PCM plates are for anyone who needs to hold a specific temperature range through a changing, uncontrolled environment, the truck, the tarmac, the loading dock, the last mile. Specialty pharmacy, pharma manufacturing, wholesalers, blood products, biologics, diagnostics: the vertical doesn’t matter. What matters is a payload with a temperature requirement and a supply chain that can’t guarantee a controlled environment for the whole trip. The plate absorbs what the environment throws at it, so the payload never has to feel it.
